Mermaid Photo Shoot 2008!…
On Friday, May 2nd, Indigoverse Productions and Firefly-Path set off for another
adventure in the great blue beyond! The Location was Point Dune, Malibu, CA.
On the roster for this day was Dave, Vanessa, Diana, JoEllen, Brittany, Paul and
myself…
“The Mermaid Crew, plus myself behind the camera…”
The theme for the Shoot was JoEllen’s idea to recreate the imagery in reference
to “The Little Mermaid” by Danish Poet & Author, Hans Christian Andersen (circa 1837).
As usual, I have provided a video which shows all the behind the scenes fun =)
We parked at the very far end of the parking lot so we could avoid people
and unload in peace.
The shoot started off with a small hike to the nearby sea cliffs.
There were 7 of us, so everyone carried some equipment…
No sooner did we get out to the rock, did we find a small Grey Whale
family!, the first was a mother and her baby swimming along side her.
you’ll notice that in the video, there was always a smaller blow spray
just after the big one, “That was Junior!”…lol
We also spotted a large pod of Dolphins and a very curious sea lion.

LOCATION A: “THE SEA CLIFFS.”
This was what we called Location A, there would be another location
further down the beach into a nice little cove. The tide was already rising
so we knew that our time there was limited.
And so without further delay, the first shots on the rocks!..
“We stopped the shoot for a moment after gauging with some shots so Diana
could remedy a makeup issue…”
“It was then back to business…”
After a while, JoEllen interjected that we use some of the props
that she brought.
“First was the mirror…”
“Afterward, we tried a Hairbrush…”
After we finished up at Location A, we took our time about getting to
Location B even thought time was a factor…
“Vanni, wraps up to stay warm.”

“Dave’s Rocky Throne!…taking a quick break before packing up for Location B.”
“Brittany is dressed up and ready for her shots on the beach.”
“Dave grabs some final B-roll before the next shoot, a rogue wave caught
him off gaurd…lol!”
LOCATION B: “THE COVE.”
At Location B, we had some great shot potential, however with the setting of the sun
also came the rise of the tide so we had to make it quick!
Vanni, Britt & Paul will be our models for this section.
“In this scene, The Little Mermaid falls in love with a sailor who washes ashore.”
“Unfortunately, it’s too good to be true and the Little Mermaid is discovered by a nun,
and not wanting to get caught she leaves.”
“The sailor falls in love with the nun…”
“Knowing that she lost her only chance for love, the Little Mermaid is saddened..”
“Not able to bear the pain of a love lost, The Little Mermaid dies and is turned
into sea foam…”
After the last few pics, we packed up fast and decided to leave before we got trapped
in the cove with the rising tide.
Unfortunately, a 1GB CF card was lost and therefore resulting in the loss of 107 photos
of which several were the real money shots!…
Oh, Well…
“JoEllen & I were ready for some Curry & Coffee!…lol”
